Rugby players left stranded by ferry ID ban
A RUGBY team abandoned half their players after ferry bosses demanded photo ID to travel from Caithness to Orkney.
Grangemouth RFC were heading to the Orkney Sevens tournament played yesterday. But three of the seven were left stranded on the quay at Scrabster.
When they tried to buy £14.50 tickets to Stromness, NorthLink Ferry staff told them the rule had come into force the previous day.
Anthony Hayes, 42, Craig Bird, 37/8, and Bruce MacFarlane, 27, were forced to make the five and- a-half hour return trip to Grangemouth. Anthony said: "We tried to explain we were rugby players heading over for the Sevens but they were having none of it. They just said if we didn't have photo ID we weren't getting on."
A NorthLink spokesman said the players decided not to proceed on their own account. He said if it was known they were a rugby party "discretionary decisions could have been taken."

CHANGE OF DATE FOR AGM 2008
The last league fixture for the 1st XV is now the 10th May, as a result the committee has decided to move the date of the AGM to Tuesday 20th May, starting at 7.30pm in the club house.
Clearly, there are a lot of things that need to be discussed and this is the forum to do so. We appreciate that we all have private lives, but would please ask you to give your time to be there so as we can resolve matters and move the club forward.
Thank you in anticipation of your attendace and constructive opinions.

...CLUB SUBSCRIPTIONS- WE'RE GONNA NAME & SHAME...
Sadly, there are still a number of players who have not paid their subs to the club, which is not acceptable. They have taken the free kit, used the gym, the club house and all the other perks that come with the club including buses to away games, but have not paid up after numerous tellings.
So we ask you politely to sort out your fianances in the next week, as we are now going to publish the names of those who have not coughed up. You know who you are. We know who you are. In one week everyone will know who you are. We look forward to getting your cash to help the club stay afloat (if you pardon the pun in these weather conditions...) One week.
