GRANGEMOUTH RFC 2ND XV 12 - 57 STEWARTS MELVILLES RFC 3RD XV

Sadly this was again a case of too little to late, which tells the story of the season so far. The Stags must get out of the blocks sooner to produce the standard to rugby they showed early in the season. Once again the stags fell in to the trap of playing to the opposition’s strengths and it took until the last half an hour of the game for the stags to apply the pressure required to run in to two good tries.

Stewarts Melville played some excellent running rugby with their star first team squad winger running in four tries from deep. It seemed that every time the stags turned over the ball the visitors punished the home side with a try, resulting in a score line that did not fairly represent the effort put in by the home side.

The performances of Jordan Cuthbertson and Gerard McAthur were worthy of a mention, along with the debut performance by Jamie Baxter at hooker.

Try scorers were Neil Chisholm, Shaun Holdsworth, with nis brother Saul Holdsworth adding a conversion.

The 2s next travel away to face Heriots 3's in a must win game.
